Construction Update #54 - Jenkins Farm Supply & Taking a Break

 The Farmers Supply

June 24, 2023

Here is the Blair Line Farmers Supply just about finished with it's new roofing.  Three colors were misted on to the AMB shingles until the original color no longer showed through.  The colors were oxide red, gray and black.  Overall, if you don't look to closely, the farmers supply looks pretty good.

The rest of the structures for the Southern States Fertilizer complex are done and temporarily set in place.  I am going to continue to work on this scene until the end of the month.  Starting the first, I will be working primarily on the upper level in preparation for a get together with a few other narrow gauge modelers.

Here is an overall view of Siloan with Jenkins Farm Supply on the left and Southern States Fertilizer on the right.  I still have to build the bucket elevator between the two stall silos and add some basic ground cover.  The silo in the background is going to be replaced with trees.  Looks like switching Siloan could be a challenge with three car spots on a single spur with limited capacity.

Here is a picture of the complex after the trees replaced the the silo in the background.  In a photo, it's really difficult to see where the trees and backdrop come together.  There are about 10 trees placed around and behind the 4 fertilizer storage tanks.  Some ground cover has also been added along with the cork underlayment of the road and grade crossing.

Taking a Break

Since I need to work on the upper level (Sn3) for an upcoming visit from the Northwest Narrow Gaugers, there won't be another post to this blog until later in the summers.  Here is a recent photo of a Central of Georgia RS-2 shoving a couple of cars towards the end of track at Siloan.  Here is a link to the Sn3 Blog. https://sn3arroyolobo.blogspot.com/
